Ceremony are excited to announce the release of their third full-length, Rohnert Park, which will be available on June 8th 2010 via Bridge Nine Records. Rohnert Park is the band’s finest material to date and mixes elements from their past work while exploring new territory for the band. The names comes from a place just north of San Francisco in Sonoma County is Rohnert Park, CA, where several members of Ceremony grew up. Don’t let that fool you, though; Ceremony’s punk stomp is apparent on Rohnert Park and Ross Farrar’s vocals are as ranting as ever. Recorded this past winter in Oakland, CA with Dan Rathbun (Tragedy, From Ashes Rise).

New York City hardcore band Sick Of It All will release their Century Media Records debut on April 20th. Their first new release in four years, the effort is titled “Based On A True Story” and we have obtained a track from the album to exclusively unveil today. The song is called “Death or Jail” and Sick Of It All drummer Armand Majidi commented: “We wrote the song ‘Death or Jail (based on a true story)’ about friends of ours that broke away and ended up following a path that led them to self-destruction or incarceration. We all know people who have made these huge mistakes, and it’s a really difficult thing to explain, especially when they come from the same place and common background. They don’t just turn their backs on their friends, it’s as if they’re turning their backs on themselves, shutting themselves into a reality that can offer nothing but stress, violence, and wickedness. Thank goodness we had the outlet of hardcore to help us vent our frustrations, or we all might have found ourselves in a similar place. This song is dedicated to those friends that we wish could have made better choices.”

You can check out the song here.

Bridge Nine to release Underdog discography

Things over at the Bridge Nine Records have been busy this winter and we are proud and excited to announce the release of NYHC legends Underdog discography titled “Matchless.” Set to hit stores on May 18th, 2010, this comprehensive release will include both “The Vanishing Point” and the Demos on CD/double LP. Bassist Russ Iglay said, “This release has been a long time coming. We’re glad that it’s going to see the light of day this Spring on Bridge Nine and we can’t wait to get out there and play more shows this summer!”

Underdog has been a staple in the hardcore scene since their inception in the 1980’s and the release of “Matchless” will further cement the impact that the band had upon the world. The two key, constant elements of Underdog during its span of four years were Richie Birkenhead (vocals) and Russ “Wheeler” Iglay (bass) who decided to form a band while talking at CBGB in 1985. The band, named True Blue for about a week, soon became Underdog. Their first 7″ EP released on New Beginnings Records (with Gregg Pierce on drums and Danny Darella on guitar) instantly became a hot commodity in the NYHC scene, spread through the U.S. and was quickly out of print. The legendary Matt Solomon cover art became the unofficial trademark for the band on T-shirts, flyers and tattoos. On the power of that 7 alone, While Richie, Russ and Dean remained fixtures (except for Richies brief departure to play for Youth of Today on one album/tour)(vocal duties were briefly taken over by Carl DiMola), guitar players were to Underdog what drummers were to Spinal Tap. Original guitarist Danny was later replaced by Arthur (Token Entry, Gorilla Biscuits), who was subsequently replaced by skater dude Chuck. Chuck Treece joined the band on guitar to help record the songs already written by Richie and Russ. Recorded in one week at Electric Reels in upstate NY and produced by Don Fury, “The Vanishing Point” was one of the most anxiously awaited records of the year. A 1989 nationwide tour to support the record was their biggest and most successful at that point and there seemed to be nothing standing in their way. Sadly prophetic, the title of the record rang true at the conclusion of that tour. Arriving back in NYC and dropping off Richie, Russ and Dean drove home for an agreed upon short break. That short break became a long break and they decided to cancel their European tour.
Now Underdog is back with the original core line-up, and with longtime friend  Matt Dolan as a ful-time member of the band.

Ignite frontman is the new Pennywise singer

Zoli Teglas, frontman for California hardcore punk band Ignite, has officially joined Pennywise as their new singer.
Pennywise bassist Randy Bradbury commented on the change: “What started out as a temporary position was just too good to put an end to. Zoli brings to the table a tremendous vocal ability, creativity, and a die hard work ethic. There is a bond that makes this change feel like it was simply meant to be, and considering the recent unfortunate events, having Zoli join the band is a well needed shot of positive energy.”
Teglas added, “I’m stoked to be singing with Pennywise. I’m a huge fan of the band and am super grateful to share the stage with my long time friends Fletcher, Byron and Randy.”

A performance videoclip of the song “Dr. Doom” from the deathcore band THE ACACIA STRAIN can be viewed at this location. The footage is taken from the band’s long-anticipated debut DVD, The Most Known Unknown, which is scheduled for release on February 16 via Prosthetic Records.
Disc one documents a sold-out show at the Worcester Palladium shot in December 2008, while disc two contains footage of a show at the much smaller and more intimate Waterfront on the band’s home turf of Holyoke, Massachusetts, as well as three music videos (’Smoke Ya Later’, ‘3750′, ‘Angry Mob Justice’), a documentary covering the formative years of the band and a “10 Seconds of Fame” bonus segment, in which select fans were given 10 seconds on camera to do whatever they wanted.

The cover art for The Most Known Unknown is made by Paul Romano and can be viewed here. He also did the work for the cover of THE ACACIA STRAIN’s latest album, Continent, as well as covers for MASTODON, TRIVIUM and many more.
